Durham
failed to take advantage of a great opening hour against
Newton Aycliffe.
Carr - Early Goal
|
Durham had taken an early
lead after Magda Carr had chipped Lowerson. The home
team came back strongly and scored from a corner after some
confusion in the Durham penalty area.
Helen Richardson
broke through and scored just before half-time to give
Durham a deserved 2-1 lead.
Newton Aycliffe started the
brighter and 15 minutes into the half they pulled the scores
back level with a long range shot. Unfortunately for Durham
they then conceded two further second half goals to lose
4-2.
Campbell - Excellent Performance
|
Manager Stephen Hamil was
upbeat after the game however, "I thought the girls
battled so well for the first hour. At 2-1 I thought that
the team who scored the next goal would go on to win and
unfortunately it was Newton Aycliffe who got the break
through. Looking on the positive side, we have learned a few
lessons from this game and we will come back stronger after
working on them in training. I'd like also to say that Julie
Campbell had an excellent game in the center of
midfield. Considering it is her first proper season of
football ever she is doing extremely well".
