Durham
City Ladies went down to top of the league side Kader 3-1 at
Laurel Avenue on Sunday.
There was good news for
Manager Stephen Hamil before the game with club captain
Dionne Martens available again after four months out with a
broken collarbone, Vicky Collier also returned after
recovering from a shin injury.
Kader started the match the
more lively and showed why they are top of the league with
some excellent football. Their pressure eventually resulted
in a goal - an excellent header from striker Burnip.
This goal then brought City to life who finished the half
the brighter team. Helen
Richardson went close for Durham before Jo Wood scored her
first goal of the season after a great cross from Woman of
the Match Amanda Smith.

Durham took their good form
into the second half and nearly took the lead but the
visitor's 'keeper saved well again from Richardson.
Kader took the lead against
the run of play when a long range effort from the excellent
Stephenson somehow found its way under the body of City
'keeper Lisa Marley.
Lenny Gressmann nearly got
something out of the game for Durham with a rasping 25 yard
drive. Unfortunately for Gressmann, the shot came back off
the inside of the bar. Kader then wrapped up the game in the
dying seconds with Taylor scoring from close range.
