Durham
City Ladies progressed to the quarter finals of the Northern
League Cup with a hard earned victory against a good
Newcastle Development side.

Playing against the wind in
the first half the young Newcastle team had the better of
the play. Durham had goalkeeper Amanda Kirtlain to thank for
two magnificent saves. At the other end Amanda Smith
came closest during a goal mouth scramble.
In the second half Durham
took control of the game, with Gemma Charlton and Julie
Campbell beginning to win the midfield battle.
Carr - WOM and Goalscorer

With twenty minutes to go
Woman of the Match Magda Carr won the game for City. Carr
got the vital touch on a Charlton corner after confusion at
the near post for Newcastle.
City defended comfortably for
the final minutes of the match to see themselves through to
the next round.
