Top of the league Gretna beat Durham City 7-0 in a comfortable victory.

On a hard pitch in hot conditions Durham City were no match for the excellent Gretna.

City held out for 20 minutes defending well, but once Gretna scored there was only going to be one winner.

Durham were restricted to two hopeful Julie Campbell shots whereas Gretna converted a further two goals in the first half.

The second half continued much the same as the first. Lyndsey Edmunson caused the City defence problems all game and eventually scored four. Gretna's other scorers were Smith, Osborne and Gosling.

It was to Durham's credit that they never stopped battling and City's Linda Matchell was singled out for praise for a good game at sweeper.
