Smith - Woman of the match
and a goal
|
Magda Carr scored early on for Durham after linking well with her strike partner Helen Richardson. Woman of the Match Amanda Smith then got a deserved goal. She was brought down when clean through on goal, Magda Carr struck the following free kick and when the 'keeper spilled the shot Smith fired into the empty net.
With Durham doing most of the attacking it was Magda Carr who was involved again in the third goal, she crossed a super ball in for Helen Richardson to volley home.
Carr - Great Game
|
Durham went in at half time 3-0 up, but were quick to start the second half where they left off in the first. Carr scored a second goal when she turned and chipped the 'keeper from outside the box. Midfielder Julie Campbell then scored a rare headed goal for Durham City when a Carr free kick came off the crossbar and fell kindly for her. There was still time for City's top scorer Helen Richardson to get her second. She broke through the Rutherford defence and beat the 'keeper to make the final score 6-0.
Next Sunday Durham return to league action making the long away trip to Windscale in Cumbria.
