Durham
City Ladies suffered their heaviest defeat of the season
losing away to an impressive Marton side 5-0.
Carr - WOM
|
Marton started well and
their centre forwards Angus and Duffy looked lively from the
whistle. The two strikers combined well for Duffy to open
the scoring after a neat one-two.
City were struggling to
create anything themselves in front of goal and Marton
deservedly stretched their lead when Fox curled a shot over
Marley in the visitor's goal.
Durham started the second
half brightly and Hine in the Marton goal saved brilliantly
from City's Amanda Smith following a great run and shot.
Hine was there again to save from Helen Richardson when it
looked certain that Durham would pull a goal back.
However, Marton weathered
Durham's spell of pressure and then scored two further goals
in two minutes from Angus and Simpson.
Smith - Good in attack
|
City gave a brought on
ex-South Durham captain Sarah Alexander for her debut with
20 minutes to go but Marton were starting to play some
excellent football by this stage. Even
the tireless work of Durham's woman of the match Magda Carr
could not do anything to turn the scoreline around. Marton
finished off the game strongly when Duffy claimed her 2nd of
the game late on.
