Durham
City Ladies recorded a super win defeating Northern League
Champions Billingham 3-2.
Charlton - WOM
|
Both teams created chances
in the first half, however, it was Billingham that were the
sharper.
Dodds scored for the
vistors with a free kick to make the score 1-0. At the other
end Helen Richardson blasted over for City when one on one
with Hatim in the Billingham goal. Westemoreland then
extended the vistors lead just before half time poking home
after a goal mouth scramble when Durham failed to clear a
corner kick.
The turning point of the
game was ten minutes into the second half. City's Helen
Richardson was put clean through only to be brought to the
floor by Gibson. The referee reduced Billingham to 10
dismissing Gibson for a professional foul. There was worse
news to follow for the visitors when woman of the match
Gemma Charlton blasted the resultant free kick into the top
corner.
Sebastinelli - Great Game
|
City sensed they could get
something out of the game and once more Richardson was set
free on goal. She made no mistake this time to bring the
game back to 2-2.
Fifteen minutes to go City
Captain Julie Campbell got the winner. She tucked away a
great cross from Emma Leggitt after a brave challenge with
the Billingham 'keeper.
