Durham
City Ladies returned to winning ways beating South Durham
Royals (based at Newton Aycliffe) 3-1.
Symons - Early goal
|
Things didn't start well
again for Durham, and for the fourth match in a row they
conceded an early goal. City 'keeper Jo Hunter could do
little when Royals striker Swailes scored direct from a free
kick.
Durham, who were desperate
for a win after two league defeats rallied well. After some
sustained pressure, defender, Tracy Symons scored a
well taken equaliser.
Carr - Hard work up front
|
City striker Helen
Richardson then scored twice before half-time to
effectively win the game for the visitors. Richardson added
to her impressive scoring tally for the club when she scored
with two, one on one, chances. There
was no addition to the score in the second half. Jane Spink
won the woman of the match award for some tireless work in
midfield. Magda Carr can consider herself unfortunate not to
stretch Durham's lead further having two efforts blocked on
the line.
After the match City
Captain Dionne Martens was full of praise for goal scorer
Tracy Symons, "Tracy, a defender, has played in every
game for us since the club formed. With the hard work and
commitment she has shown to the club it was great to see her
getting a goal."
