Durham
City Ladies returned to winning ways beating Boldon 3-1 on a
very muddy pitch.
Charlton - Good to be back
|
Boldon started well and won
an early penalty after Linda Machell and Tracy Symons
bundled over a Boldon forward in the box. However, City's
Lisa Marley produced a fine save to keep the score at 0-0.
Durham then punished Boldon
with two quick goals.
The first was from Gemma Charlton who cooly slotted
home with her left foot after some good work from Emma
Leggett. Charlton then turned provider when she crossed for
City Captain Julie Campbell to spectacularly volley
home.
Carr - 5th Woman of the
Match
|
Just before half time Simpson
pulled one back for Boldon with a well taken right footed
strike from inside the box.In
the second half Durham defended well and were content to hit
Boldon on the counter attack. Both Woman of the Match, Magda
Carr, and Amanda Smith came close before Helen Richardson
sealed the victory for City when she lifted the ball over
the Boldon 'keeper to make it 3-1.
