MATCH REPORT |
Durham
beat Penrith 4-0 to leave them requiring one point in their
last game to win the Women's Northern League 2nd Division.
After a nervy start Durham
nearly scored in the first twenty minutes. Strikers Amanda
Smith and Helen Richardson both hit the woodwork in the same
attack. Ten minutes before the break Maxine Bell
scored for Durham slotting home at the near post.

Helen Richardson got
an important second goal just after half time when she
blasted home her 36th goal of the season. Julie Campbell
then scored a deserved goal after a run which started in her
own half. Defender Claire Turner then scored the
fourth with a strike from the edge of the box.

Durham will hope that they can
put in a similar performance in their last league game of
the season, this time at home to Penrith.
