Durham
City Ladies battled out a share of the points away to
Windscale in the Second Divison of the Northern League.
Campbell - City's WOM
|
It was a disastrous start
for City who conceded two early goals. English headed home
for Windscale in the first five minutes from a corner. The
home team then made the most of a mix up in the City defence
to go two up from Cameron.
The remainder of the half
was then all Durham. Woman of the Match Julie Campbell was
tremendous from the middle of the pitch. Windscale 'keeper
Scott made outstanding saves from Campbell and Richardson to
keep the home team's lead. Durham were justly rewarded for
their play with a goal just before half time. A Magda Carr
corner was volleyed home from Richardson to pull the
score to 2-1.
City stand in 'keeper Sarah
Alexander made some good saves in the second half to keep
Durham in the game. At the other end Richardson looked the
most likely to pull Durham back into the match.
Richardson
- Last minute equaliser

With time running out it
appeared that City would gain nothing from the game until in
injury time Lenny Gressmann played a ball through for Richardson.
The City striker bravely challenged the 'keeper and was
rewarded when the ball fell for her and she tapped into the
empty net for a share of the points.
