Most Internet Service Providers (i.e. Freeserve, BT, AOL etc.) offer you free web space. You may host your web site on this space.

Why should I host my site at one of these locations?

• It is generally free.
• You may join a web community and share your site with people of different interests.
• The domain name will be related to your current email address.
• Most do not require an automatic pop-up banner

Why shouldn't I host my site at one of these locations?

• Your domain name includes their company name (i.e. http://www.mywebsite.freeserve.co.uk - ideally you would want http://www.mywebsite.co.uk - it looks more professional)
• If you include large downloads on the site you will quickly use up the available band width. Therefore if you want to make MP3's or WAV files available to visitors to your site maybe you should choose a different option.
• Not all ISP's offer on-line uploading. In many cases you must purchase a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) application (see upload).

Summary

• Again this option is ideal for those new to the internet. If you have a simple site and want to put it on the web for free then this may be the option for you. If you are a serious business then this is not the option for you.
